This is because alteration in the supply of money does not necessarily interfere with the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"realà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ economy that is, production, consumption and patterns of trade. The sole interaction between money and the economy is through determination of nominal quantities such as wages, exchange rates and prices among others. Though alteration in the quantity of money may trigger short-term disruptions, the economy eventually settles at the same long-term equilibrium as the previous one. In other words, the neutrality of money is based on the claim that at when money is at à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"normalà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ levels, a shift in the supply of money will not change the long-term economic equilibrium. Money is neutral due to the fact that it does not affect the output and the interest rate in the medium run. The rise in nominal money suppl y is proportional to the rise in the price level. The natural level of output is determined by the AS curve position while the IS curve determines interest rate. Since the IS curve does not shift, the interest rate is not affected, as well as the output level. As a result, in the medium run, the monetary policy remains ineffective.[Edward Gamber and Colander David, Macroeconomics (South Africa: Pearson, 2009), 197] Though money is neutral in the medium run, monetary policy can be efficient in the short-run. With a monetary expansion, the AD curve shifts to the right while the LM curve shifts down. As a result, there is a decrease in the interest rate thereby increasing the output due to increase in investment. In other words, the usefulness of monetary policy is evident in the short-run because, it decreases the interest rate while increasing the output level. In case the output level falls below the natural level, monetary policy can speed up the economyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s return to the n atural level. However, monetary policy is not effective when the LM curve is flat (interest rates close to zero). This is because, during this time, the economy is said to have fallen into a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"Liquidity Trap.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Monetary policy is useful since it can speed up the return of output to its normal level if it deviates in the short-run.Situations may arise when the interest rate has no effect on investment. A popular topic lately is the state’s minimum wage, and whether it should be raised or if we should keep the current minimum wage. This is exactly what an increase in minimum wage is supposedly trying to avoid, however studies have shown that just a one dollar increase in minimum wage results in a 1.48 percentage point increase in the unemployment rate, and that high state minimum wages have increased unemployment by 747,000 workers. . These tolls being taken are not worth the small increase in minimum wages. The unemployment rate is just the beginning of the issues an increase in minimum wage will create. In 2013, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ data revealed that states with minimum wages above $7.25 per hour averaged lower net job growth rates that states with a minimum wage of $7.25. . Ender’S Game Essay Enders Game is a science fiction novel set in the fairly distant future, in a time when aliens have already attacked Earth twice and the population is so great that a worldwide birth limit has been imposed. While some of Enders Game takes place in the peaceful North Carolina countryside, the greater part of the story is set in outer space, and at the very end, on an alien planet. The exotic time and place immediately heighten the sense of adventure in the story, but mainly the setting reflects the feelings of Ender Wiggen, the main character of the novel. The physical isolation of the battle and command schools parallels Enders own feelings of isolation and helplessness. The novel is written from the omniscient point of view, although most of the story is concerned with the thoughts of Ender Wiggin, the main character of the novel. Through his eyes the mood is one of stifling helplessness mingled with a sence of urgency until after the climax when it becomes one of hope. Ender Wiggen is the indisputable hero of the story. He is the perfect man (or boy) for the job: independent, strong willed, mentally tough, creative and mature. While Ender shares the leadership abilities of his brother Peter, he is also sensitive and good-hearted like his sister Valentine. The compassionate side of Ender is not what interests his Machiavellian military instructors, however. They manipulate Enders talent and try to forge him into a strong, ruthless leader. Colonel Graff, the head of the battle school, is especially merciless and unscrupulous. Graff isolates Ender from his peers, drives him to the point of exhaustion, and, on several occasions, sets Ender up for situations in which he must actually kill other students in self defense. Probably the most important secondary characters in this story are Enders brother and sister, Peter and Valentine. Even though the both are geniuses like Ender, they represent two opposite ends of the personality spectrum. Peter is a sadistic, pers uasive, and conniving human being who wants to gain control of the world while Valentine is caring, compassionate and moral even though she eventually aids Peter in his quest to rule the world. Together they create a formidable and balance team, though neither truly trusts the other. Most of the other characters in this novel are other students at the battle school. There are basically three types of students: The intolerant, malignant students who continuously attack Ender both verbally and physically, the few caring, friendly students who help Ender along the way, and the submissive, compliant younger students that Ender 0commands. The only real exception is Bean, one of Enders subordinates who in many ways is like a younger version of Ender, and who later becomes one of Enders squadron commanders. One other unique character is Mazer Rackham, Enders instructor in the last part of the book, a man who single-handedly defeated the aliens in an earlier invasion. While ruthless and ins ensitive like Enders other instructors, Mazer could easily be Ender in the future, just as Bean could easily be a younger version of Ender. There are two major conflicts in Enders Game, one internal and the other external. The main external conflict involves Enders struggles to overcome the obstacles placed in his path by his military supervisors. To make him as strong, creative and independent as possible, the instructors isolate Ender and put him in situations that seem impossible. As soon as Ender accomplishes a task, the instructors give him an even more difficult one. The main internal conflict of the story is a direct result of the main external conflict. Ender is extremely determined to be successful at the schools, but he feels isolated and helpless, exactly how his instructors want him to feel. Ender knows that he is the only hope for leading the fight against the aliens, but because the instructors make his life so difficult, he feels that he is in a no win situation. Anot her obstacle for Ender in that he fears that through his military training he is becoming like Peter, the one thing that he fears the most. The thought is abhorrent to Ender, and it causes his determination to wave in several points of the book. Although the premise for the story is that ender must lead the fight against the aliens, the actual conflict is a relatively minor one, especially because at the time Ender still believes he is in training, and not really fighting the aliens. It is a vital conflict, however, because the story could not occur without the aiens as enemies. Another minor conflict concerns Valentine. She wants to be a part of Peters plan to gain control of the world, but she does not want to work with of for Peter. Within a number of years, those 24 rabbits multiplied into millions. By the 1920s, less than 70 years since its introduction, the rabbit population in Australia ballooned to an estimated 10 billion, reproducing at a rate of 18 to 30 per single female rabbit per year. The rabbits started to migrate across Australia at a rate of 80 miles a year. After destroying two million acres of Victorias floral lands, they traversed across the states of New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland. By 1890, rabbits were spotted all the way in Western Australia. Australia is an ideal location for the prolific rabbit. The winters are mild, so they are able to breed nearly year-round. There is an abundance of land with limited industrial development. The second fence was built roughly parallel to the first, 55 - 100 miles further west, branching off from the original to the southern coast, stretching 724 miles. The final fence extends 160 miles horizontally from the second to the western coast of the country. Despite the enormity of the project, the fence was deemed unsuccessful, since many rabbits traversed over to the protected side during the construction period. Additionally, many have dug their way through the fence, as well. The Australian government also experimented with biological methods to control the feral rabbit population. In 1950, mosquitoes and fleas carrying the myxoma virus were released into the wild. This virus, found in South America, only affects rabbits. The release was highly successful, as an estimated 90-99 percent of the rabbit population in Australia was wiped out. Unfortunately, because mosquitoes and fleas do not typically inhabit arid areas, many of the rabbits living in the continents interior were not affected. A small percentage of the population also developed a natural genetic immunity to the virus and they continued to reproduce. Today, only about 40 percent of rabbits are still susceptible to this disease. To combat the reduced effectiveness of myxoma, flies carrying a rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD), was released in Australia in 1995. Unlike myxoma, RHD is able to infiltrate the arid areas. The disease helped reduced rabbit populations by 90 percent in arid zones. However, like myxomatosis, RHD is still limited by geography. Since its host is a fly, this disease has very little impact on the cooler, higher rainfall regions of coastal Australia where flies are less prevalent. Oxygen is carried in red blood cells by a substance called hemoglobin(Hemoglobin – is the main substance of the red blood cell. Red blood cells containing mostly hemoglobin S do not live as long as normal red blood cells (normally about 16 days). They also become stiff, distorted in shape and have difficulty passing through the body's small blood vessels. When sickle-shaped cells block small blood vessels, less blood can get to that part of the body. Tissue that does not receive a normal blood flow eventually becomes damaged. This is what causes the complications of sickle cell disease. There are several types of sickle cell disease. The most common are: Sickle Cell Anemia (SS), Sickle-Hemoglobin C Disease (SC)Sickle Beta-Plus Thalassemia and Sickle Beta-Zero Thalassemia. Sickle Cell trait (AS) is an inherited condition in which both hemoglobin A and S are made in the red blood cells, there are always more A than S. Sickle cell trait is not a type of sickle cell disease. People with sickle cell trait are generally healthy. In the deoxygenated form, it forms into long arrays that come out the shape of the red cell and produce the characteristic sickling that characterizes the disease. The insolubility of deoxygenated (reduced) sickle hemoglobin is the basis of two rapid diagnostic laboratory tests for sickle cell anemia. Scientists recently have had some limited success in using genetic engineering techniques to get good copies of the beta globin gene into people with sickle cell anemia. If they can succeed in this endeavor, people with the disease may be cured but will still be able to pass the genes onto their offspring.

It could not be denied then that through the years, this particular fascination within the different elements that could be seen in the human environment actually developed into the many discoveries and inventions that humans produced (Sternberg, 1989, 31). Through passing civilization of humans, it could be observed that the people were never contented with what they already have or what they have already accomplished. This is especially true in terms of science and technology as well as in arts and literature (Ambuel, 2006, 15). It is indeed undeniable that people recreate the things that are already existent within their own society.   The fact that they have already been able to see what they could do regarding a certain type of field (Cooper, 1997, 18), they intend to even do better the net time that they deal with the same invention. Yes, h umans never get tired of reinventing everything there is in the environment. Why is this so?Human intelligence has always been noted by philosophers as the primary factor that makes the human creation different from that of the other God-made creations. The humans’ ability to innovate their own achievements to even better results for the present generation to see, has particularly noted them to be those who are capable of reinventing themselves to be able to evolve from generations to generations. (Corlett, 2005, 17)To discuss this particular fact further, take an example of the human literature. It is overwhelming enough to see that the society today is already flooded by the many informations that are presented to humans through the printed pages of literature. As a result, more and more people joined the bandwagon of writing and began to share their thoughts to the world with regards the issues that primarily concern the human society today. (Bakalis, 2005, 17)This particular progress in literature has primarily been further fueled by the democratic arrangement of the major governments around the world, giving a chance for the freedom of human expression. It is through this that people became more aware of the world around them , they cared more than ever with the political agendas, the social issues as well as other informations that concern their interests (Cooper, 2005, 16). True, the changing situation in the society and the demand towards progress requires that human intelligence be perfected in a way that it particularly caters to the needs of the entire humanity. The human brain’s ability to store and restructure informations that were accepted by it through the years of an individual’s life is particularly a proof that the application of humans’ intelligence could still be perfected as generations are still to come along. (Allen, 2006, 18)In the same idea, both the philosophers Plato and Pericles believed that humans are indeed capable of being highly involved with developments as they are certainly given the idealism of becoming the best at anything. Although both philosophers believed in this particular through, they did have different approaches in presenting the truth about their claims (Cooper, 1997, 13). To understand the issue better, the thoughts and philosophies of both Pericles and Plato shall be discussed within the paragraphs that follow in two separate presentations.The Thoughts of PlatoPlato has been widely known in the human history of philosophy as the establisher of the western culture. As a philosopher, Plato has been known for his ability to validate his claims through mathematical pattern of assumptions as he present his ideas through his writings (Corlett, 2005, 27). True, this thought might seem quite confusing at some point. However, if closely observed, it could not be denied that the situation is quite obvious. It all boils down to the reality of the people. Because of the fact that humans are less able to become realistic with who they are, they are then consequently living their lives in an unrealistic world that makes it even harder for themselves to â€Å"zap† back into the real life that they ought to face. This is in correspondence to the doubts of humans as to why they are at times in trouble of finding what they really want out of living on earth.The Thoughts of PericlesPericles has been known to be among the list of the most successful ancient politicians of the human his tory. This is most likely because of the skill that he himself has faced during his rule in Athens. Even when he was still on his way in being inspired in becoming an icon of the public, he knew that the responsibility that he was about to take was not that easy to fulfill (Corlett, 2005, 48). It is through their freedom of speaking their thoughts off to the public that they are able to make the necessary changes that they ought to contribute to their communities.Certainly, if observed closely, Percles’ and Plato’s belief on the capabilities of humans to use their capabilities well explains how the human intelligence is actually used in the systems by which the human civilization progresses towards modernity.
